			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://patchnyc.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/hpim3742.JPG" title="hpim3742.JPG"><img src="http://patchnyc.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/hpim3742.JPG" alt="hpim3742.JPG" /></a>Guess the kitty cat is out of the bag.  Yep, the rumors are true.  We&#8217;ve opened a PATCH NYC shop here in Boston.  The space is itsy bitsy and tucked in the back of a brick lined courtyard in the South End so it is off the beaten track&#8230;.a wee little X mark on a treasure map.  The space wasn&#8217;t so magical to start with as it was a wood workers shop&#8230;.filled floor to ceiling with tools, scraps of wood, a tangle of electric cords, work benches&#8230;the whole lot covered with a thick layer of saw dust.  We spent several weeks and some very late nights cleaning, building, painting and slowly (painfully so) the space began to look less like a workroom and more like a shop.  During this process, we talked a lot about stores that we like, retail spaces that we&#8217;ve loved, inspiration that we&#8217;ve seen which, of course, included the work of Eugene Atget specifically his incredible images of shops in Paris from the late 1800&#8217;s and early 1900&#8217;s.  If our new space can muster even the tiniest bit of magic like M. Atget&#8217;s photographs, then we will be two very happy shop keepers.</p>
