Here we are a wee pause since our last post and this entry finds us back in Paris and back with Astier de Villatte. This time though we participated in the Maison et Objet trade fair which is located outside of Paris because it is too massive to fit anywhere in the city. The fair runs for five days and occupies several huge halls in a rambling complex filled with every imaginable object for your home. The exhibition spaces are so large that the team at Astier de Villatte is able to construct a series of rooms making the stand feel like the set for a play or film complete with a replica of their Saint Honore store facade.
It was an ideal environment for Astier de Villatte’s collection of ceramics and furniture as well their new line of candles and fragrances featuring some of Don’s art on the packaging.
The walls of the Astier de Villatte stand were textured and painted green, grey and blue in shades that looked like they were from another time which was perfect for showing Don’s art.
The space felt like part of a greater whole as if these rooms were taken from a very well-appointed stately house. It was quite grand in the scale of the furniture and the displays but at the same time it was cozy and, best of all, it felt nothing like being at a trade fair.
