Here, an exceptional hand colored copperplate engraving of a Stapelia Moschata or Starfish Flower, a succulent plant known for its large blossom and unusually foul smell. This beautiful engraving is from the English volume: The Botanical Cabinet : Consisting of Coloured Delineations of Plants, From All Countries, with a Short Account of Each published in the early 1800's by Conrad Loddiges & Sons with plates by George Cooke. The carved wood frame is vintage.
Original hand-colored copperplate engraving on paper under glass in a vintage carved wood frame. Frame measures about 10.5"h x 8.75"w. Image measures about 9.5"h x 7.5"w.
