We are pleased to offer a selection of vintage art sourced by our founders Don and John during their travels. Here, a wonderful study of mesanges (chicadees) showing the male and female with a nest and eggs. The details and hand coloring on this French engraving are exceptional (look at the speckled eggs!).
This original hand colored engraving is from a series of books called: Dictionnaire Pittoresque d'Histoire Naturelle et des Phenomenes de la Nature (Picture Dictionary of Natural History and Phenomena of Nature) published in the 1830's in France. The carved wood frame is vintage.
