Melissa Mytty: Floral Vase (6)

We are very pleased to present a special selection of artist Melissa Mytty's one of a kind porcelain vases created exclusively for PATCH NYC.

Working with traditional ceramic hand building techniques like pinching and coiling, Melissa Mytty focuses on the vessel form as a base upon which she builds layers of finely sculpted flower shapes.  The results are exquisitely sculptural vases adorned with an abundance of delicate, hand-molded flowers bursting forth like spring time blooms in a garden. Each vase is finished with a semi-gloss creamy white glaze and detailed by hand with 22 kt gold accents.

Melissa Mytty received a BFA in ceramics from the College for Creative Studies in Michigan and an MFA in ceramics from Cranbrook Academy of Art.  From 2007-2012, she was the Resident Artist at The Clay Studio in Philadelphia and her ceramic work has been exhibited nationally.  She live and works in Collegeville, Pennsylvania.
