Richard Lau One of a Kind Gingko Bowl (B100)
Regular price $550.00
Inspired by the shapes and surfaces of ancient growth Gingko tree trunks, Bay Area artist Richard Lau creates these one of a kind bowls combining elements that are both thrown on the wheel and manipulated by hand.
After wheel throwing the base shape of his bowl, Lau carefully applies hand built bulbous forms then textures the entire surface with a pattern of carved lines. These undulating lines cover the exterior of the bowl, wrapping around the raised forms, emphasizing each protrusion and giving the appearance of rippling folds under the glaze. The result is a one of a kind ceramic bowl that is both functional and beautifully sculptural.
Ceramic with a gloss glaze. About 5.5" tall x 11.75" diameter. Made in the USA. Sold individually. Food safe.
Please note: The crevices, lines and indentations on the surface of this bowl are intentional and meant to mimic the texture of gingko tree trunks. These surface details do not affect the functionality of this bowl.
