Vintage Painted Wood Donkey on Wheels with Rider Made in Japan

PATCH NYC founders Don and John love to visit vintage markets whenever they travel and we are pleased to offer a selection of their special finds. 

Here, a sculptural donkey with rider on wheels made from wood and painted in a great palette of colors.  Originally this patented object was mechanized as shown by the non-functioning winding key on the side.  This intricately constructed piece is supported by rods and pins that hold the pieces together and allow it to move slightly. This is a terrific decorative piece!  While this donkey was most likely created as a toy, we do not recommend this piece for small children.  

Painted wood, metal, textile material ears.  Measures about 6.25"h x 7.5"w x 3" d.  See detail photo for label.  The wheels still turn on this piece.
